Chinese tech firm Rokid is preparing to launch its newest augmented reality (AR) glasses internationally through AliExpress, just in time for the 618 summer sale. As part of the AliExpress “BigSave” campaign, Rokid will offer a nearly US$100 discount on the AR Spatial glasses, lowering the price to just US$568 for a limited period.
Rokid, based in Hangzhou, has already gained attention in China and is now making a strong push into global markets. The brand aims to expand its presence overseas by setting up an official store on AliExpress and joining the ranks of other major Chinese tech companies such as Xiaomi, Lenovo, Anker, Pop Mart, and Unitree.
The company sees this move as a way to overcome some of the main challenges Chinese brands often face when expanding abroad—mainly low brand recognition and high marketing expenses. Rokid’s international business lead, Shao Huaqiang, believes that AliExpress helps solve these problems by boosting visibility and supporting logistics through Alibaba’s global shipping arm, Cainiao.
Lightweight design with high-tech features
The new AR Spatial glasses weigh only 75 grams, making them one of the lighter options on the market. However, they require a portable computing hub to function. This external unit houses a Qualcomm processor and battery, enabling the glasses to run advanced spatial computing tasks.
Rokid’s product allows users to view three virtual desktop screens simultaneously and includes a special “cinema mode,” which the company compares to watching a film on a massive 300-inch display. These features aim to offer a more immersive and flexible computing experience.
Until now, Rokid has mainly relied on third-party distributors to sell its products overseas. But this time, by partnering directly with AliExpress, it expects to reach a wider audience. According to the company, its revenue through AliExpress jumped by 600% year-over-year in the first quarter of 2025.
A growing market for smart eyewear
Rokid’s launch comes as interest in extended reality (XR) technology grows rapidly. XR includes AR, virtual reality (VR), and mixed reality (MR), and companies worldwide—from Meta and Apple to Huawei and ByteDance—are racing to capture a share of this fast-moving market.
New advances in both AI and hardware are helping to make AR devices more appealing. Instead of the large and heavy headsets of the past, brands are now designing smart glasses that are much lighter and more user-friendly. Rokid’s new glasses fit neatly into this trend.
Rival Chinese firm Xreal also made headlines recently with its Project Aura announcement. This new device runs on Google’s Android XR system and was shown off at Google’s I/O developer conference last month.
According to Statista data, the global AR and VR market is expected to generate US$46.6 billion in revenue by 2025. Meanwhile, market research firm IDC predicts that China’s AR/VR sector will grow at an impressive 41.1% annual rate between 2024 and 2029, eventually surpassing US$10.5 billion in spending by the end of that period.
With its lightweight design, strong feature set, and global sales push via AliExpress, Rokid is positioning itself as a serious player in the AR space. If you’re looking to explore the future of eyewear, this summer sale could be the perfect time to dive in.
