Google Labs introduces Stitch to streamline app design and development

Google Labs launches Stitch, a tool that transforms prompts and sketches into UI designs and front-end code, streamlining app development.

Google Labs has unveiled Stitch, a new experimental tool designed to simplify the process of turning design concepts into functional user interfaces and front-end code. The innovation aims to address the long-standing gap between design and development teams, where significant manual effort and repeated feedback loops have traditionally slowed down the process of building applications.

A collaborative solution built for efficiency

Stitch originated from a collaboration between a designer and an engineer, both of whom sought to improve the way they worked together. By leveraging the capabilities of Gemini 2.5 Pro, Stitch enables a more seamless and integrated workflow. The tool offers a multimodal interface, combining natural language processing with visual input to transform ideas into interactive, code-ready UI designs within minutes.

The tool is built to accommodate a range of user inputs, from text-based prompts to images and sketches. Users can describe the type of application they wish to build using plain English, specifying features like layout preferences and colour themes. Based on these prompts, Stitch generates a visual user interface tailored to the request.

Designed for flexibility and creative freedom

Stitch also supports visual uploads, such as whiteboard sketches, screenshots, or basic wireframes. The system analyses these images to create polished UI designs that maintain the integrity of the user’s original intent.
