Pure Storage and SK hynix partner to boost hyperscale data centre performance and efficiency

Pure Storage and SK hynix team up to deliver high-capacity, energy-efficient flash storage solutions for hyperscale data centres.

Pure Storage has announced a strategic collaboration with SK hynix to develop advanced QLC flash storage products, aiming to meet the growing demand for high-capacity, energy-efficient solutions in hyperscale data centres. The partnership brings together Pure Storage’s expertise in data storage platforms and SK hynix’s leadership in AI-driven NAND flash memory technology.

Meeting modern data centre demands

Hyperscale data centres are under increasing pressure to handle massive data workloads without compromising on speed or sustainability. Traditional storage options like hard disk drives (HDDs) struggle to keep up with the demands of the AI era, where both performance and energy efficiency are crucial. Data bottlenecks and high power consumption are becoming critical issues for companies managing large-scale infrastructure.

In response, Pure Storage and SK hynix are working together to create new DirectFlash Module products using SK hynix’s QLC NAND flash memory. These solutions are designed specifically for hyperscale environments that require rapid processing capabilities, lower operational costs, and better environmental performance.

Enhancing performance, efficiency and scalability

The partnership promises several advantages over conventional storage systems. The new QLC flash-based solutions will deliver consistently high performance through the combination of SK hynix’s advanced flash memory and Pure Storage’s flash management architecture. This integration allows for ultra-low latency and high reliability, ideal for data-intensive and AI-driven workloads.

A key benefit of the collaboration is improved energy efficiency. By reducing power usage, the new systems help overcome limitations in power availability while also cutting energy bills and supporting sustainability goals. This is particularly important as data centres face growing scrutiny over carbon emissions and energy consumption.

The new offering will also provide superior scalability and a lower total cost of ownership compared to HDD-based systems. With high storage density and optimised rack space, organisations will be able to scale their infrastructure with ease while keeping costs under control.
